Margaret L. Hrivnak, age 85 of Valparaiso passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010 surrounded by her family at the VNA Horton Hospice Center, Valparaiso.  She was born on November 26, 1924 in East Chicago, IN to John and Pauline (Landis) Simonton.  Margaret was a homemaker who loved to give her time as a volunteer at the Red Cross, Lutheran Deaconess, Porter Starke, and Porter County Bureau of Tourism.  She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who loved her grandchildren and they could do no wrong in grandma’s eyes.  She will be dearly missed by all of her family.
On December 23, 1943 in Crown Point, Margaret married John Hrivnak who preceded her in death in 1970.  She is survived by 6 children, Frank (Mary) Hrivnak of Union Mills, George Hrivnak of Valparaiso, Millie (Don) Kuehl of Valparaiso, Mag (Jeff) Bell of Springboro, OH, Cindy (Chuck) Peo of Wheatfield, and Andy (Mary) Hrivnak of Kouts; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and special niece, Nancy Alexander.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, John R. Hrivnak; 1 great grandchild; 4 sisters; 3 brothers; and special nephew, Al Dout.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 4th at 10:30 AM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd, Valparaiso with Rev. James Armstrong officiating.  Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.  Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice 2401 Valley Dr, Valparaiso 46383 or to the donor’s choice.
