Harold J. Kimmel, 82, of Alva, FL formerly of Valparaiso, passed away on August 24, 2010 at his home.  He was born on October 23, 1927 in Chicago, IL to Melville and Ellen Kimmel.  He worked as an electrician, retiring in 1988 from the International Brotherhood of Electricians Local # 531,  served in the military (Army) and was a member of the Duneland Woodcarvers Club.
On January 3, 1998, Harold married Shirley Ellis who survives along with his 3 daughters:  Gayle Kimmel of Naples, FL, Renee Kimmel of Naples, FL and Lori (Danny) Coffin of Wanatah; 4 step-children:  Gene Randolph of Rensselaer, Bill Randolph of Murfreesboro, TN, Angela (Kevin) Talley of Mount Carmel, IL, and Jeff (Kelly) Vaupel of Carmi, IL; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.  Harold was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Betty, brother, William Kimmel, step-daughter, Cheryl Coppinger and step-son, Mark Vaupel.
Funeral services will be held on Monday August 30, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Kosanke Funeral Home, 105 E. Indiana Ave. Kouts, IN 46347 with Pastor Kenneth Gamblin officiating.  Visitation will be Sunday from 1-5 PM at the funeral home.
