Donald
Charles Mundinger, 80, of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at
home. He was born September 2, 1929 in Chicago, IL to George and Bertha (Trelkenburg)
Mundinger. He received his BA in Education from Concordia University, River
Forest, MA in Political Science from Northwestern, PhD from Washington
University, and completed post-doctoral work at the University of Michigan and
Cambridge, England. Dr. Mundinger served at Valparaiso University from 1958 to
1973 as Professor of Political Science, Dean of the College of Arts and
Sciences, and Vice-President of Academic Affairs. He then joined Illinois
College in Jacksonville, IL as President, retiring in 1993. On June 17, 1951 in
Chicago he married June Grubbe, who survives, along with two children: Debra
(Stephen) Strasburg of Ann Arbor, MI and Donald William (Carol Holdt) Mundinger
of Portland, OR; one brother, George Mundinger of Kansas City, KS; and three
grandchildren: Andrew, James, and Rebecca Strasburg. He was preceded in death
by his parents and one daughter, Mary Mundinger. |
