Evelyn Farley, 102, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017. She was born in Durand, MI on July 17, 1915 to William F. & Florence R. (Weiss) Laesch. She was the older sister to Lois Lorraine Laesch and Arlene Laesch. Despite her father’s protests, she joined the U.S. Air Force to learn how to fly planes and was prepared to fly to Germany to help the Allies in 1945 when the war ended and her service was no longer needed. She met Hilton Adams Farley through their mutual love of flying and were married on October 3, 1949. They lived in Middlefield, OH and were faithful members of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Hilton was an air traffic controller and Evelyn owned her own beauty shop. They also maintained a maple syrup business on the Farley Family Farm for over 40 years. In 2005 Evelyn moved to Valparaiso to be near her sister, Arlene. She would like to thank all of the kind and caring staff of Pines Village and Avalon Springs who helped meet her needs for many years. Evelyn is survived by her beloved niece, Nancy Willard of Valparaiso who was always near to lend a helping hand, her husband’s niece, Evelyn Boeson of Ohio and nephew, Tom Robinson of Oregon. Evelyn was so very loving and kind and had a great sense of humor. She will be missed by those who love her.
Burial will be at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Saginaw, MI. There will be no visitation.
