Jamalle Jean Gleaton-Cotton, passed away tragically at the age of 40, on Saturday March 24th, 2018, just as he was approaching the apex of his amazing life.  Born June 7th, 1977 and raised in Valparaiso by Mother Juanita Gleaton-Cotton, and Father Robert Cotton.  Jamalle was a gifted athlete who led his Viking wrestling squad to two consecutive Indiana State Tournament appearances, in Indianapolis, at the grand old Madison Square Garden stadium. There he distinguished himself as a two-time medalist finishing 3rd in State his senior year. In 1996 he left home to serve the U.S. Army, 11Bravo, C co. 1/327th INF Airborne/ Air Assault/ EIB. Assigned to the storied first-to-fight Airborne division at Fort Campbell Kentucky, he qualified as an expert marksman, earned his Expert Infantry Badge, Airborne Paratrooper, and Air Assault qualified. He was assigned a tour of duty watching over a buffer zoned area in the desert on the Sinai Peninsula.  Upon concluding his military career, Jamalle decided to build his life in the South where he remained, and eventually planted his final roots in Marietta Georgia with, life and business partner, Heather Shepherd.
Jamalle was preceded in death by Great Grandmothers Mandy Martin and Inez Frazier, Grandmother Emmie L. Gleaton-Eubanks, Grandfathers Howard Gleaton and Joseph Cotton Sr., Aunt Loretta M. Gleaton, and five uncles including Melvin Gleaton Harry Gleaton, Louis Martin, Walter Gates, and Joseph Cotton Jr. Survived by two children, the pride and joy of his life, Tierra Bowers and Jamarre Burnett, Siblings Javiera and Myles Cotton, Mother Juanita D. Gleaton-Cotton, Father Robert Cotton, Grandmother Barbara Cotton-Frazier, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Please make plans to join Jamalle’s family, friends, and loved ones for a memorial celebration in his honor, and to express appreciation for Jamalle's heroic and blessedly inspiring life.  Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15th, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 1700 Monticello Park Drive in Valparaiso Indiana 46383.  In lieu of flowers please consider making a charitable donation to the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital’s ICU Cardiology and Neurology departments. 677 Church St., Marietta Georgia 30060.
