John Beach, 85 of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Friday, March 9, 2018.  John attended Valparaiso University and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1960.  He worked at Philley Manufacturing Company in Valparaiso and later retired from NIPSCO.  John was a founding and active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder for many years.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post 94.  John enjoyed singing in several barbershop choruses and his church choir, as well as spending time with his family and staying involved in the lives and activities of his beloved grandchildren.  John is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 64 years, along with their children: Karen (Allen) Kent, Steve (Cathy) Beach, Virginia Reinhertz, all of Valparaiso; grandchildren: Jeffrey (Carrie) Kent, Andrea (James) Creighton, Shawn (Sheena) Ewing, Jason Beach, Ryan Beach, Michael (Lauren) Reinhertz, Joel Reinhertz, Father-in-law to Scott Reinhertz; great grandchildren: Evan, Nicholas, Bella, and Rogue.  John was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lottie, and siblings, Charles, Robert, Mildred, and Alvin, Jr.  John was driven to befriend everyone he ever met.  He took great pleasure in bringing joy to people’s day through his kindness and humor.  To know John was to love John.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 3 – 7 PM at MOELLER FUNERAL HOME, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso.  The funeral service will begin at 11 AM on Saturday, March 17 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 234 W. Division Rd., Valparaiso, with additional visitation from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or Arthur and Ethel Horton VNA Hospice Care.
