Ervin M. Sajdera, 88 of Valparaiso passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017.  He was born on February 28, 1929 in Calumet City, IL to Frank and Lucille (Sobczak) Sajdera.  Ervin proudly served in the United States Navy, graduated from Purdue University, and made his career as a foreman at Lever Brothers, eventually retiring and then working 15 more years at Philips Ace Hardware in Valparaiso.  He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 94 in Valparaiso.  Ervin enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and watching movies on TV, but his true passion was his family.  On October 3, 1953 in Gary, IN Ervin married Lillian Pavloff, who survives, along with their children: Ervin (Sheila) Sajdera of Crown Point, Michael (Laura) Sajdera of Kouts, Carol (Sam) Douthitt of Chesterton, Jean (Chuck) Brumley of Wheeler, Ray (Ginger) Sajdera of Valparaiso, Mary (Duane) Peterson of Chesterton, Sue (John) Greer of FL, Jennifer (Bob) Allen of Valparaiso, Edward (Angie) Sajdera of Westville; 23 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister: Fran Lenzo of Valparaiso; brother in law: Felix Pavloff; sisters in law: Daisy (Bob) Arehart, Vivian Sajdera, and Louise Sajdera; and many loving nieces and nephews.  Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; son: Andrew Sajdera; and three brothers: Edward, Joe, and John.
A funeral mass will take place on Friday, March 31 at 10:00 AM directly at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, with a visitation on Thursday, March 30 at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, from 1:00 – 7:00 PM, and additional visitation time on Friday at the church from 9:00 AM until time of service.  Burial to follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Hospice of NWI, 2401 Valley Dr., Valparaiso, IN 46383.
