Allyn R. Corning, Jr., 65 of Valparaiso, formerly of Hazel Crest, IL passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, April 1, 2017.  Allyn was born in Fort Bragg, NC on January 24, 1952 to Allyn R. Corning, Sr. and Loretta (Blotnicki) Corning.  Allyn was a 1970 graduate of Homewood Flossmoor High School, where he excelled in football and track.  He went on to Prairie State College and earned dual apprenticeships in Electrical and Mechanical at USX.  He was well respected and friendly to all who knew him.  Allyn was a hardworking, loving, and devoted husband and father who loved fishing, hunting, and motorcycles.  He worked many years as a foreman at USX South Works, winning several awards for inventions that improved safety and efficiency in the workplace.  Allyn is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Debbie (Klink) Corning; their 5 sons: Shane (Tawnee), Dana (Nellie), Jeremy (Molly), Ryan, and Kyle; 8 grandchildren: Rayna, Alexander, Aidan, Gabriel, Asher, Logan, Nora, and newborn Isley June; brothers: Phillip, Daniel (Christine), Roger (Cathy), Stephen (Elva); sisters: Susan (David), Louann (Paul), Annette (James); and many loving nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and 4 sisters: Francis, Eileen, Cathy, and Carol Ann. 
A funeral service will take place on Friday, April 7 at 10:00 AM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso, with a visitation on Thursday, April 6 from 3:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.  Burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Morgan Township Volunteer Fire Department, 291-2 S. State Road 49, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
