Carolyn Rozhon, 78 of Valparaiso, and formerly of North Judson, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026 surrounded by family after a lengthy illness. She was born on October 30, 1947 in LaPorte, Indiana. Preceding her in death are her parents, Daniel and Masselene (Allen) Smith, and sister Phyllis Wood (Ronald) of Elkhart.
On October 19, 1968, Carolyn married Richard Rozhon who survives along with their two sons Daniel, Steven, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Carolyn worked in the banking and real estate industry and was an independent residential appraiser. She lived a quiet life and enjoyed caring for various animals, fishing, reading, gardening, Wheel of Fortune, and spending time with family.
She previously volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Porter County 4-H, EAA Chapter 104, and participated in a Cancer support group where she was one of the longest IBC survivors offering both inspiration and hope. In her early years, she was a teenage hospital volunteer (Candy Striper) at Starke Memorial Hospital.
Carolyn was also the first woman to have hatched Cuora galbinifrons and Cuora mouhotii in captivity in the United States.
In accordance with her wishes she will be cremated and no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, VNA Hospice, Central Florida Wildlife Center Inc., theTurtleRoom, or your local food bank.
