Charles N. “Chuck” Yacuk, 77, of Kouts passed away Monday, September 7, 2026. He was born June 21, 1949, in Lafayette, Indiana to Nick & Doris (Brown) Yacuk and graduated from Concord High School in 1967. In 1977 he began a career as a truck driver with Inland Steel where he would work accident-free for the next 43 years, retiring in 2020.

Chuck enjoyed collecting classic Farmall tractors and devising interesting mechanical additions to them designed to improve their functionality, and they usually did. His penchant for reading “Fletch Books”, a series of detective novels, revealed his cognitive diversity, although he could also be found with a copy of Auto Trader magazine in his hands with some frequency. He also enjoyed the family dogs right up until they began to show their preference for Kathy because she was the one feeding them. Then he began to question their loyalty by stating, “I need to get a real dog”. Playing cards with family and friends provided many good times and memories. He could also be quite content when he was seemingly lost in a reverie of his own thoughts for extended periods. We may never fully appreciate the complexity of his mind.

On August 27, 1977, he married Kathy Frutig who survives along with their two sons: Matt Yacuk of Gresham, Oregon & Andrew (Tana) Yacuk of Troutdale, Oregon, grandsons, Callum & Elliott Yacuk, and brother, Ron (Pam) Yacuk of Conroe, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Deb Nick & Dawn Jones.

A private family celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at a later date.
