Elbert “Dave” Antrim, 89, of Valparaiso passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026. He was born May 19, 1937, in Valparaiso to Elbert M. & Lucy (Adams) Antrim and graduated from Boone Grove High School in 1956. Dave made his career as a gas line locater with Nipsco for 33 years. He was a skilled woodworker, enjoyed sharing his fishing trips with family & friends, and had a special relationship with animals that may have been cultivated during his farm upbringing. During retirement Dave had many memorable trips with his wife. But it was his self-appointed position as neighborhood manager that he fully embraced and provided each of his days with a purpose. We choose to believe that his neighbors also appreciated this service, alleviating them of the responsibility.
In August of 1967 he married Sandra Kay Ward who preceded him in death in 2021. He is survived by their son, Mark (Susan) Antrim of Valparaiso. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Laverne Deering, brothers, Owen A. & Kenneth H. Antrim, and his cousins, with whom he was raised, Jeanette Kendall & Lee Bogan.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 11th from 10 am – 12 noon at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso with funeral service beginning at 12:00 noon and burial following at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Porter County Animal Shelter.
