Elwood “Woody” Grieger, 78 of LaCrosse, IN, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026. He was born October 21, 1947, in LaPorte, IN, to the late Clarence Robert Grieger and Mildred Nettie (Gordon) Grieger. Elwood graduated from Wanatah High School in 1966 and received his bachelor's degree in agronomy from Purdue University. As a lifelong farmer, Elwood farmed Pioneer seed corn, regular field corn, soybeans, and wheat. His famous “Woody’s Sweet Corn” was sold at local establishments around Wanatah and greatly anticipated by his customers. He was a lifetime member of Salem Church, where he had served on the church council, the brotherhood, and the choir. Elwood was also a member of the Greater Wanatah Area Conservation Club, a former Cass Township Advisory Board member, and formerly on the Elevator Board for Wanatah Mercantile. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, trapping, hunting, and supporting his family in their activities and accomplishments. He also loved to travel and looked forward to their annual trips to the Flager Beach, Florida area and Minnesota. Elwood was a well-respected man, who was honest to a fault, and earned the right to be called corny, both for his sense of humor and expertise on the farm. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
On December 20, 1969, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kouts, Elwood married Drelah Rosenbaum, who survives, along with their children: Tina (Jason) Randall and Tim (Missy) Grieger, all of LaCrosse; grandsons: Dakota (Rylie Koepke) Grieger and Dylan Grieger; brother-in-law, Bob Rosenbaum; niece and nephew: Kylene (Brett) Lambert and Robb (Megan) Rosenbaum and their families.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Salem Church, 302 S. Main St., Wanatah, with a funeral service beginning at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dunes Hospice or Salem Church.

So sorry to hear that Elwood is gone. I know you and your family will miss him. I wish we could come up there for the funeral but we just can't. Both of us are having eye trouble and our driving skills are pretty poor. Between doctor visits and aches and pains, we are kept pretty busy.
