Karen M. Reeve, 70 of Kouts, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 6, 2026. She was born August 20, 1955, to Byron & Jeanne (Howser) Dick, graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1973 and trained as a Radiologic Technologist at Porter Memorial Hospital where she began her career. Karen concluded her career at the Immediate Care Center in Schererville. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting at which she was quite accomplished and loved to showcase her talents. However, it was her decades long involvement with her children and grandchildren in the Porter County 4-H Poultry Project that has impacted generations of Porter County youths.
On November 10, 1979, Karen married Craig E. Reeve, who preceded her in death in 2016. She is survived by their children: Nicole (Joshua) Garza of Valparaiso, Craig Reeve of Indiana, Brandon (Mandy) Reeve of Kouts, Andrew (Amanda) Reeve of North Judson, grandchildren: Robert, Kathryn, Elizabeth & Alexander Garza, Andrew Guzman, Byron, Jacob & Zoey Reeve, Ty & Dillon Stewart, and siblings: Doug (Linda) Dick of Valparaiso, Cindy (Tom) Wicks of Lebanon, Brian (Lisa) Dick of North Carolina & Karl (Gayla) Dick of Pendleton. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will be held Sunday, July 19th from 12 noon – 3 pm at Kosanke Funeral Home, 309 S. Main St., Kouts. The funeral service will be held Monday, July 20th, 10:30 am at Kosanke Funeral Home with burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Porter County 4-H Poultry Project.

I went to school with Karen. She was bridesmaid at my wedding. She drove to Norfolk when my son was born and gave us a beautiful afghan she had made. We still have it. I'm sorry to say we fell out of touch. Will miss her funny smile and giggle. -Mary Koontz
