Larry Lee Woodyard, 85, of Hobart passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026. He was born August 26, 1941, in Sullivan, Indiana to Roy A. & Brilliatine V. (Melvin) Woodyard. Larry served proudly with the U.S. Army, then made his career as a machinist in the steel manufacturing industry retiring from H.A. Industries in Hammond.

Cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs and Bears was always great entertainment. Golfing at Indian Ridge brought him many hours of joy and frustration, both of which may have led to embellished stories while lounging on his deck at home sipping a Miller Lite. Larry was lucky enough to have a special neighbor, Janet, to befriend him through every manner of joy or grief.

Survivors include his wife Marjorie Woodyard, children: Erica (Tom) Summerfield of Kouts, Lorri (Mike) Miller of Kouts, Melody (Jack) Wessel of Knoxville, TN & John Brantley of Portage, sister, Rita (Ray) Yates, step-son, Tim Cremer of Portage, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a private family ceremony will be held.

GUESTBOOK

R.I.P. LW. My condolences to his Family. Had some very good times with Larry. Very sorry to hear this. -Jeff DiCesare

I was SO very sad to hear this. Larry had been a co-worker of my late ex-husband, but even after my divorce, Larry & I kept in touch all these years. He was one of the most kindest, warm-hearted people I've known. It saddens me to hear that he is now gone from us. -Sue Tater (Fehse)

I was so heartbroken to hear of Larry’s passing. I have taken care of Larry for his eyeglasses and i was fortunate to get to know him through work and i always looked forward to talking with him. He was my costco buddy. I will always miss his smiles and jokes. May his memory be eternal. -Natalie
