Lowenston C. “Brownie” Brown, 98, of Hebron passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 9, 2026. He was born July 21, 1928, in Centertown, Kentucky to Joseph & Georgia (Ashby) Brown. Brownie served proudly with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Sergeant following WW II. He then made his career with Youngstown Sheet & Tube / LTV Steel for 45 years, retiring as a Supervisor of the Coke Plant. Brownie had been a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hebron.
On August 25, 1951, he married Doris Feeler who survives along with their daughters: Martina Brown of Valparaiso & Debra Jean Brown of Hebron, grandchildren: Kenny Leeper & Bridget Leeper, and great granddaughter, Aleah Shepherd. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Karen, and three siblings: Marie, Carlos & Martina.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 12th from 10 – 11 am at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1005 W. Sigler St., Hebron, Indiana with funeral service beginning at 11:00 am, Pastor Frank McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church.

I will always remember Uncle Winston as a super smart man. He always beat me in the card game Rummy. He loved his family & his church. I’m sure aunt Doris will miss him dearly. Jim (Becky's husband) and I wish to offer our condolences to all those that knew and loved my Uncle, Winston. He was truly a special uncle. Looking back on my childhood, some of my favorite memories are of the times he and Aunt Doris visited my grandparents in Kentucky. All of us in the family tried to pitch in to help my grandparents manage their 300 acre farm located in Ohio County, KY. Winston never hesitated to roll up his sleeves and pitch in wherever he was needed. Those visits were filled with so much love, laughter, hard work, and of course, the unforgettable aroma of Aunt Doris's freshly baked cornbread, which I always looked forward to. Recently , Jim and I enjoyed visiting Doris, Winston, Debbie, Martina, and her horses in Hebron and Valparaiso. They treated us like royalty on all our visits and we never had a dull moment. Also, throughout our life we were blessed by their visits no matter which state we called home. Uncle Winston's dedication to his family and his generous spirit will always leave a lasting mark on my heart. Uncle Winston was so kind, always willing to help others, and a devoted man to God. He cherished his church family deeply and found joy and strength in their shared faith and fellowship. Becky and Jim wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to their church family, friends, and relatives for their overwhelming prayers, support, and immeasurable assistance which they provided throughout Uncle Winston's life and especially during the difficult weeks of illness leading up to his passing. Doris and Winston were deeply grateful for and blessed by their kindness. We will always cherish the memories and legacy Uncle Winston left behind, and though his presence will be profoundly missed we wish to end this message with an excerpt from Grace E.
