Patric “Pat” Dowdy, 81 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2026. He was born December 1, 1944, in Gary, IN, to the late Warren and Mary (Dubroja) Dowdy. Pat graduated from Lew Wallace High School in 1962, where he was active on the swimming team. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Rose Polytechnic Institute in Terre Haute. Pat made his career as a civil engineer with the Hunter Corporation for over 30 years, before working in California and Arizona until his retirement. Pat loved all sports and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was particularly fond of golfing, and enjoyed taking trips with his golf group, “The Thumpers”. Pat also liked traveling and having fun with his friends and family. He will be dearly missed by those who were lucky enough to know him.
Pat is survived by his sons: Keith Dowdy of Valparaiso, and Collin Dowdy of Demotte; grandchildren: Natalie Dowdy, Adam (Alexis) Dowdy, Lauren (Joe) Lyman, Mary-Cate Dowdy, and Ethan Dowdy; great-grandchildren: Auggy and Margot Lyman, and Mikey Dowdy; and brothers: Ken (Marianne) Dowdy, and Roger (Marcia) Dowdy.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso, IN.
