Rebecca “Becky” Gill, 73 of LaCrosse, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 21, 2026. She was born July 13, 1952, in Spooner, WI, to the late Roscoe E. Yenna, Sr. and Frances “Ruth” (Dunfee) Earp. Becky had been a newspaper carrier, delivering The NWI Times newspaper to customers for years. Becky enjoyed spending time with her beloved dogs, Buster and Tiffany, and playing card and dice games with her family. She earned the nickname “Backroad Becky” for her dubious extracurricular activities, which will not be elaborated on. She was a mother to all the kids in the neighborhood, and looked after them fondly. Becky will be remembered for her loving nature and wonderful sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
On October 21, 1978, Becky married Angel Gill, Jr., who preceded her in death on December 25, 2013. She is survived by her son, Michael (Theresa) Gill of LaCrosse; step-children: Angel “Pookie” Gill III of East Chicago, Janet Gill of Merrillville, and Christopher (Misty) Gill of Portage; brother, Bruce (Rhonda) Yenna of Plymouth; grandson, Mason; step-grandchildren: Priscilla, Gamaliel, Angelica, Hailey, Brooklyn, Rachel, Brandon, and Anthony; 6 step great grandchildren; and her lifelong friend, Charlotte Bradney. Becky was also a bonus grandma to 5 foreign exchange students: Julian from Poland, Antonia from Germany, Katerina from Czech Republic, Gabriella from Spain, and Leticia from Brazil. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Roscoe Yenna, Jr., Dawn Bules, Steven Yenna, and Raymond Yenna; stepson, Craig Gill; and step-grandson, Caleb Gill.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CDT at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. CDT. Burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plymouth. Click here to watch the recorded Funeral Service.
