Robert Patrick Murphy, 59 of Lake Station, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 29, 2026. He was born December 18, 1966, in Milford, CT to Charles and Maureen (Swertfeger) Murphy. Bob graduated from Jonathan Law High School in Milford, CT. Bob was a hardworking man who took great pride in his career as an industrial painter with Local 460. He was a history buff who enjoyed learning about all historical events, from ancient times to the Civil War. Bob was also very proud of his Irish family heritage and culture. You could often find Bob listening to classic rock music, befriending animals of all sorts, and spending time with his family. Bob made sure to always put his family first and was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered as a fearless and strong-willed man, who will be deeply missed.
On June 6, 1999, Bob married the love of his life, Karen Acres, who survives, along with their sons: Sean Patrick Murphy and Seamus Michael Murphy, both of Valparaiso; grandson, Connor Patrick Murphy; father, Charles Murphy; brothers: Charles (Dawn) Murphy and John Murphy; and beloved dog, Daphne. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maureen Murphy; and brother, Danny Murphy.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Angelcrest Cemetery.

Our sons became friends in elementary school and remain friends to this day. Our families became friends through our sons. What a blessing Bob is to all of us. He was always so proudly involved in our children's activities and our son spent a lot of time with their family. Bob cared so much for our son and had a positive influence on him and all of us.
