Russell Edward Hamann, 83 of Westborough, Massachusetts and formerly of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026. He was born on May 6, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Louis and Helen (Malik) Hamann. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Russell earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, as well as graduate degrees from Purdue University and the University of Michigan. He made his career in the automotive industry, mostly in Michigan. He found enjoyment in playing cards, working puzzles, and exercising, especially running. Russell ran every day, until his health limited him.
Russell is survived by his sons, John and Paul Hamann, and five grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents and brother, Roger Hamann.
Following cremation, a graveside service will be held August 1, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Graceland Cemetery 1505 Morthland Dr. (Hwy 30), Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made online to the Alzheimer’s Association.
