Shirley M. Hamlin, 87, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 15, 2026. She was born March 4, 1939, in Tellico Plains, Tennessee to Edd & Nellie (Gourley) Garrison. Shirley thoroughly enjoyed the music in her life, especially attending music festivals, all types of animals but seemed to gravitate towards cats, and talking to people from all walks of life.
Shirley married Fred Hamlin, Sr. who preceded her in death in 2018. Survivors include their children: Fred Hamlin, Jr. of Valparaiso & Tammy (Mike) Pacheco of Calumet City, Illinois, grandchildren: Amy, Ashley, Clayton, Collin, Cody, Matthew, Mariah, Krystle & Sabrina, and great-grandchildren: Selena, Khyler, Bryce, Emma, Olivia, Mason, Ivy, Kozmelina, Jazlyn, Jadrien, Lilliyana, Daleyza, Izrael & Emiliano. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Rick Summey, and brother, Willard Garrison.
