Wayne Allen Jones, Jr., 75, of Union Mills, Indiana passed away Monday, August 31, 2026. He was born March 28, 1951, to Wayne A. & Irene (Koch) Jones, Sr., graduated from South Central High School in 1969, and served proudly with the U.S. Navy. Wayne made his career with Bethlehem Steel for over 30 years retiring as a Millwright.
Wayne was a loyal and longtime member of Union Mills American Legion Post #295 where he was currently Finance Officer. As a Legion member he taught flag etiquette at South Central Elementary School to 4th graders for many years and was always a part of their Veterans’ Day recognition. He loved to dance with his wife, Helen, especially to the oldies rock & roll of the Rolling Stones and Beatles. Golfing in two leagues at Hamlet, cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs and Ohio State Buckeyes provided him both joy and frustration.
On September 25, 1982, he married Helen M. Dilloway who survives along with their children: Diane (Michael) Koselke of Wanatah, Tim Lawrence Dilloway of Hanna & Trevor Allen Jones of Union Mills, siblings: Susan Hale of Union Mills & Paul Good of Hanna, grandchildren: Blake & Shalynn Rogers, Mason & Averi Jones, Lucah & Leandra Meyers, and sisters-in-laws: Brenda, Peggy, Jenice & Sally. He was preceded in death by his parents: Wayne A. (Darlene) Jones, Sr. & Irene (Paul) Good, Sr., siblings: David P. Jones, James Jones, Mary Fields & Mike Good, and brother-in-law, Pat Hale.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be announced at a later date.
