Betha Bessie Ungurait, 100 of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023. She was born January 1, 1923 in Michigan City, IN to the late Albert and May Belle (Ryckman) Bentley. Prior to retirement, Betha worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Anothny’s in Michigan City. She attended Valley Baptist Church in Valparaiso, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Order of the Amaranth. Betha enjoyed doing needlework and collecting anything to do with frogs.
On December 25, 1946, Betha married Donald W. Ungurait who preceded her in death on March 27, 1978. She is survived by her children, MerriBeth (John) Adams, Kathleen (Dean) Farrand, Diane (Dennis) Emerick, Sue Feldman, Marva (Dennis) Kray, and John (Rosa) Ungurait; grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristen, Michelle, Kyle, Daniel, Andrew, Mark, Logan, Kilian, Kira, James, and John Thomas; and 12 great grandchildren. Betha was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, George Feldman, and siblings, Ralph, Bobby, and Lyle Bentley.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 1:00-4:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Funeral Service on Monday, August 28th at 10:30 AM. A private burial will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.
