John H. “Jack” Zippmann, 86, of Valparaiso passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso.  He was born December 13, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois to Henry M. & Alice (Kruse) Zippmann and served proudly in the U.S. Navy.  As the youngest of his generation, Jack embraced his role as a “Great” uncle, teasing and taunting his sibling’s progeny mercilessly.  He chose to treat employment as a necessary evil, despite natural talents as a salesman, he pursued a circuitous route through employers over the decades.  Retirement seemed to be his true calling, allowing for the leisurely days he truly relished.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Adele Westergren, Marilyn Davidson & Alice Douglas, and a nephew Kurt Westergren.  Survivors include nieces & nephews; Lynn Vandenberg, Nancy O’Brien, Jan Westergren, Scott (Kristin) Westergren & Robert Ferguson, and numerous great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces & nephews.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a private family committal ceremony will be held at Mount Greenwood Cemetery in Chicago.
