Henry W. “Bub” Ashcraft, 81 of Schererville, IN, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023 in Valparaiso, IN. He was born on December 23, 1941 in Whiting, IN, to Henry and Mary (Kovach) Ashcraft and graduated from Clark High School in 1958. Henry proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Over his life, he worked with his brother running deli restaurants in Houston, TX, owned a meat market in AL, as well as made a career at Pullman Standard working on computers in AL. His most recent occupation was as a Truck Driver for various local companies for over 20 years. He was a lifelong White Sox fan, who also cheered on Alabama Crimson Tide football, enjoyed gardening in his big yard in AL, fishing with his brother in Canada, listening to Neil Diamond and watching The Three Stooges. There was nothing that brought him more pride and joy than his three grandkids and spending time with his dogs over the years including Ripley and Peanut Butter.
Survivors include daughter, Becky (Gregg Kovach) Ashcraft; grandchildren: Riana and Erik Christensen, and Veronika Kovach; and siblings: Belva, Mary Beth, and William “Bill” Ashcraft. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Tumidalski; brothers-in-law, Jim Brewer and Bernard Tumidalski; and mother of his child, Lorraine Bogie.
Per Henry’s wishes, there will be no services at this time.
