Darlene May Newman, 71 of Valparaiso and formerly of Kouts, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023. She was born December 13, 1952, in Valparaiso to the late Harold and Gladys (Gast) Rogers. Darlene attended Valparaiso Schools and made her career as a Customer Service Representative in the Rewards Booth at the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City. She enjoyed spending time playing games on her phone, and golfing with her husband, Lonnie. Darlene mostly kept to herself and liked quiet nights at home. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
On December 18, 1999, Darlene married Lonnie Newman who preceded in death on January 22, 2005. She is survived by her daughters, Sheri (Mark) Martinek, Victoria (Noel) Leonard, and Rebecca Lass; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Doug, Dale, Darrell, Dwayne, and Dennis; and sisters, Debbie and Diane.
A Memorial Gathering will be held January 3, 2024, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Memorial Service beginning at 4:00 PM.
