David P. Pera, 77, of Valparaiso passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023. He was born March 14, 1946 to Robert & Gladys (Hesford) Pera, graduated from Horace Mann High School, and attended Chicago Technical College and Indiana University. David made his career as a Vice President with Emcor Hyre Electric for 30 years.
On June 14, 1969 he married Allison Griggs who survives along with their daughters; Megan Pera of Liberty Township, Ohio, Amanda (Curtiss) Strietelmeier of Valparaiso & Courtney (Brian) Ord of Prosper, Texas, and grandchildren: Weston Pera Brach, Liam, Rowan & Finley Strietelmeier, Nolan & Miles Ord. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Doris Stanim.
Dave was incredibly loving, generous and selfless and his 6 grandkids were his pride and joy.  He loved playing golf with his friends, both at Valparaiso Country Club and Forest Glen in Naples, Florida.  He was hardworking and meticulous, enjoying doing home improvements in and around the house.  He was a great storyteller (the longer the better) and he never forgot a punchline.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 27th from 3 – 5 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso with funeral service beginning at 5:00 pm, Rev. Kevin Miller officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Valparaiso First United Methodist Church or the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, 269 Hanover St., Bldg. 3, Hanover, MA 02339.
