Paul David Madrid I, 78 of Michigan City, passed away December 30, 2023.  He was born May 20, 1945 in Oakland, CA to Paul Emietero and Ernestine Albinita (Rivera) Madrid.  For 49 years, Paul worked at Canadian National Railroad and for over 25 years he also worked as an English Professor at Purdue North Central and Indiana University Northwest.  He loved to write and paint and enjoyed playing tennis, exercising, and walks on the beach.  Most of all, Paul loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his children, Paul David (Shirley) Madrid II, Aaron M. Madrid, Joli (Dustin) Gentis, Erendira (Steve) Luedtke, and Amedeo (Andrea) Madrid; 16 grandchildren; brothers, John (Sharon) Madrid, Ernest Madrid, and Michael (Georgia) Madrid; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Yvonne, Leonard, Irene, Genevieve, and Paul Steven.
Private family services will be held with cremation to follow and a Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Save the Dunes 444 Barker Rd, Michigan City, IN 46360.
