James “Hawk” Daly, 66 of Valparaiso, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024. He was born April 26, 1957, in Valparaiso, IN to the late John and Beverly (Putnam) Daly. Jim was proud of his career, working with Hoosier Fire Equipment for 38 years before retirement. Jim was often found watching the Chicago Cubs, cruising around town in his Jeep Wrangler, playing softball, and mowing his (always) pristine lawn. He was a beloved Washington Township softball coach and avid arm-chair crime investigator.
Jim is survived by his wife, Deborah Galloway; daughter, Morgan (Alejandro) Galloway Daly; step-children: Clint Shinabargar, Brian Shinabargar (Monika), and Kelly (Jason) Limberg; step-grandchildren: Austin and Dustin Shinabargar; siblings: Mike (Pam) Daly, Dan (Steve) Daly, Tim (Amy) Daly, Pat Daly-Carle, Rita Davis, Kathi (Jeff) Klaybor; brother-in-law, Noel Hinojosa and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom Daly. Jim’s favorite movie was "It's a Wonderful Life". He was a living example that “no man is a failure who has friends”. Jim was truly “the richest man in town”.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hilltop Neighborhood House.
