Pearl Lorraine Gorski, 99 of LaCrosse, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. She was born November 23, 1924, in Chicago, IL to the late Otto and Martha (Szafarkiewicz) Gorski. Pearl graduated from Loyola University in 1945 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and made her career as a Registered Nurse at St. Ann’s Hospital during WWII. She was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in LaCrosse, where she had been part of the Rosary Society. Pearl had a very strong faith in the Lord and always made her faith and family a priority. She loved animals, dancing, and playing the piano. Pearl was incredibly generous and giving to those in need throughout her life. She will be remembered as a very bright woman with a big heart and penchant for helping others. Pearl was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
On November 8, 1947, in Chicago, IL, Pearl married John J. Gorski Sr., who preceded her in death in 2014. She is survived by their children: John (Deborah) Gorski, Frank (Denise) Gorski, Martha (Dale) Morris, Valerie (Tim) Parmer, Jim (Dawn) Gorski, and Carey (Phyllis) Gorski; 15 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 2 sisters, and a great grandson, Brice DeJong.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin Catholic Church, 118 E. Dominic St., LaCrosse. A Rosary Service will be said at 10:00 a.m., with the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Martin Catholic Cemetery, LaCrosse. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Martin Catholic Church, St. Agnes Adult Day Service Center, 1859 Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, IN 46385, or National Alliance on Mental Illness, 921 E. 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46240. Our heartfelt condolences to your family. My grandfather, Edward Gorski, was Pearl’s brother. My mother, Bernadette Gorski, spoke fondly of Pearl and family.
