Ronald F. Mohlke, 85, of Michigan City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at his son and daughter-in-law’s home in Valparaiso. Ron was born on October 14, 1938 in Michigan City to Fredrick and Olive (Anderson) Mohlke. A 1956 graduate of Elston Senior High School, Ron worked in the pattern shop at Weil-McLein for 46 years, having started working there at 17. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, shooting, chopping wood, gardening, spending time with family, friends, and former co-workers, and taking drives around the country roads.
Ron is survived by his sons, David (Grace) Mohlke of Valparaiso and Howard (Jill) Mohlke of La Porte; granddaughters, Jennifer, Sarah, and Megan; and great-grandchildren, Elise and Caden. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; ex-wife, Nancy (Gearhart); son, Ronald F. Mohlke, Jr.; sister, Joan (Mohlke) Babcock; and special friend of many years, Margaret, with whom he enjoyed many games of Upwords, meals at Jennie Rae’s, and trips to Bailey’s in Toto.
