Laura Marie Marak - June 12, 1931 – March 19, 2024
Laura Marak, nee Lindahl, was born in Akely, Minnesota to Henry Gustav and Katelyn Marie Lindahl. She was the youngest of nine children and had eight older brothers. Her immediate family is comprised of Kathy Mankin and husband, Gar Seifullin residing in Chicago; Debby Reynolds residing in Valparaiso; and Stephen Marak (recently deceased) and his wife, Diane Marak, of Austin, TX. Laura dearly loved her four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. All fondly remember joyfully playing for hours with grandma.
Throughout her life, Laura demonstrated resourcefulness and resiliency. Her path was not easy but she never gave up. After graduating from high school, she moved to northwest Indiana where she lived for much of her life. She was a dedicated mother and once her children were independent, Laura completed an Associate degree at Purdue University Northwest. Post-graduation, she worked in a variety of positions at local companies. Her favorite was the role of greeter at Walmart where she made many friends.
Laura greatly enjoyed reading and was especially interested in Native American and cowboy history. Country music, baking and sewing were among her other interests. Her favorite holiday was Christmas with her home filled with holiday décor and the scent of freshly baked cookies.
The family thanks everyone who has shown much love and support. The family extends our appreciation to all who helped care for mom. Memorial gifts may be sent to the American Heart Association.
Private interment will take place.

Although I never met Laura, I feel that I knew her through her daughter, Kathy, whom she raised to be one of the most generous, sensible, kind, persons in my life. She must have received comfort and pride in the family Kathy built with Gar and Rob. May comforting thoughts come to mind when her family members think of her. -Effie Nabhan
