JoAnn Scholz, 88 formerly of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Serenity Springs Center, Jasonville, IN. She was born June 21, 1935 in Starke County, IN to the late Fred and Linnie (Ols) Strommenger. For 30 years, JoAnn worked with her husband, David, operating their family business Steam Away Carpet Care in Valparaiso. She was a member the Valparaiso Nazarene Church for 54 years and enjoyed sewing, riding her bike, and baking with her grandchildren.
On October 28, 1956 in Knox, JoAnn married David O. Scholz who preceded her in death in 2011. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Berrier of Linton, IN, Debra Weitzel of Columbus, IN, and Kim Kizior of Valparaiso; five grandchildren, Hannah (Kyle) Stephenson, Holly (Austin) Blyly, Delaney and Dalton Kizior, and Elliot Berrier; and three great grandchildren, Louis, Walton, and Henry. JoAnn was also preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd and Harold Strommenger and granddaughter, Autumn Berrier-Pickering.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Funeral Service beginning at 6:00 PM, Rev. Joel Burbink officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Valparaiso Nazarene Church.
