Nancye Lou Rush, age 92, of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Porter Regional Hospital. She was born in East Gary, Indiana on November 23, 1931, to the late James Van and Gladys Irene (nee Matherly) Huff. Nancye was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Portage. On October 13, 1952, Nancye married Warren D. Rush, who preceded her in death December 23, 1988. Nancye worked for the Porter County Clerk’s Office for many years, where she enjoyed marrying couples. She also worked for GTE in Valparaiso, and then retired. Her beauty and kindness would light up any room. She enjoyed her flower garden, watching the birds, craft fairs, and spending time with her family. Nancye will be remembered as “Nana”, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Nancye is survived by her loving family: son, Warren Rush (Laura Lee Coburn-Clark); daughter, Pamela (Michael) Kloss; grandchildren, Troy (Winter) Rush, Brian Kloss, Teela (Keny) Uribe; great grandchildren, Avery Rush, Samantha Rush, Kylee Rush, Colton Rush, Cayden Rush, Xavier Kloss, and Adalynn Uribe; sister, Cathy Culp; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters: Joann Novak and Patricia Moore; brothers: James Huff and John Huff; and grandson, Joseph Rush.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso, with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial of ashes to follow at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, P.O. Box 1525, Ransom, WV 25438.
