Paul P. Noe, 83, of Valparaiso passed away Monday, July 8, 2024. He was born March 6, 1941, in Manistique, MI to Vern & Nigella (Mattson) Noe, and received a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from Michigan Technological University. During college, he participated in the co-op program with Inland Steel, and made his 31 year career working in the Quality Control Metallurgy department at Inland aftergraduation. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, was an accomplished woodworker, do-it-yourselfer, talented artist, and an enthusiastic beekeeper. He was most passionate about boating and sailing. He sailed his J30 in competitive sailboat races out of Burnham Harbor, Chicago, crewed the Chicago to Mackinac sailboat race on numerous occasions, and shared his love of the sport by introducing it to many people.
On July 22, 2006 he married Faith Diefenbach Mortensen Dooge, who survives along with two daughters; Jennifer Noe (Michael Levine) of Chicago & Gabrielle “Kelley” Noe of Valparaiso, step-children; Benjamin Mortensen of Valparaiso, Christiana McLean (Eric) of Valparaiso & Angelica Mortensen (Nate Holdren) of Des Moines, IA, sisters; Kathie Peil & Mary Kaye Harrell (Jeff), grandson, Benjamin, and step-grandchildren; Tim, David (Megan), Katrina, Ayla, & Lottie. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Robert, Theodore, and Kurt Noe.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20th, at Christ Lutheran Church, Valparaiso where he had helped significantly with the woodworking and finishing of the new sanctuary. Visitation at 1:00, service at 2:00pm.
