To the family of my best friend. I wish you my deepest condolences in your time of grieving. She was the kindest, most helpful, and gracious person I have known. I Have had many great memories of my friend who has helped me throughout the years. -Phyllis Misch

We loved Marlene for her kindness, concern for others, and joy of living. She was filled with energy and used it to help family and friends in any way she could, and was happiest when busy. A visit with her could progress into a crowd, as others dropped in and joined the conversations, and the feast that she somehow always provided. We will miss our long distance talks about "what's happening on your end?", to catch up on the local news. We join friends and family in celebrating her life, and as long as there are those who remember her, she will still be with us in spirit. -Fred and Carol Haman

We are saddened to hear of Marlene’s passing, but assured that Marlene is now in God’s care. She was a dedicated wife, mother and multi-faceted contributor to the Kouts and surrounding Porter County communities. Marlene always made us feel welcome whenever we visited over the years. -Brad, Dina and James Lauman
