Wilbur L. Goodwin, 96, of Wanatah passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 17, 2024. He was born November 28, 1927, in LaPorte to Leland G. & Mae Edith (Kuss) Goodwin, graduated From Clinton Township High School in 1945 and served proudly with the U.S. Army. Wilbur made his career with REMC retiring as a Superintendent with 32 years of service. He was a member of Wanatah Christian Church and Wanatah Lions Club. Over the years Wilbur enjoyed being outdoors, particularly in his garden, bowling, golfing, woodworking, remote control cars and virtually any type of electronic gadgets.
Survivors include his children; Diane (Gene) Pfeifer, Doug (Linda) Goodwin, Daryl (Susan) Goodwin & Dawn (Mark) Sowder, brother, Ronald (Shirley) Goodwin, 16 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
A visitation will be held Thursday from 3 – 7 pm at Wanatah Funeral Chapel. A private funeral service will be held Friday with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Memorial donations may be made to Dunes Hospice or Wanatah Lions Club.
