Richard Edward Dailey, 90, of Valparaiso, Indiana passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 24, 2024. He was born October 12, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Robert L. & Marie A. (Franc) Dailey. Richard served proudly with the U.S. Army and received a B.A. in Accounting in Pennsylvania to prepare for his career with U.S. Steel Southworks in Chicago and American Bridge in Gary which spanned four decades.
His enthusiastic and outgoing personality lent itself well to his penchant for sartorial dress; always sharp and well-coordinated with just the right choice of jewelry accompaniment. He also knew how to enjoy the quiet moments of life, usually with the parade of feline babies in his life; this would currently include “Gin” & “Tonic” whom he adopted when they lost their home at Duneland Distillery (much to the disappointment of their regular clientele).
On November 6, 1976 he married Shirley Powers who preceded him in death on July 30, 1998. On March 29, 2015 he married Geraldine “Gerri” (nee Brundridge) Everett who survives along with her children; Eric Everett of Valparaiso & Laura Everett of Chesterton, Richard’s daughter, Diane, stepchildren; Joe Boksa of Crown Point, Janice Sewell of Westville, John Boksa of Arizona, grandchildren: Jack, Patrick, Brian, Kevin, Jennifer, Derek, Travis & Shane. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Dan & Dean Dailey, stepdaughter, Lori Everett, and stepson, James Boksa.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a celebration of Richard’s life will be held Saturday, September 7th, 4:00 pm at Gelsosomo’s Pizzeria, 371 Indiana Boundary Rd., Chesterton.
