Muriel Jean “Peanuts” Lopez, 68, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. She was born September 29, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois to Marcelino & Signa (Murray) Lopez and graduated from Gage Park High School. Peanuts made her career for nearly 26 years as a Letter Carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. In her younger years she excelled on the disco dance floor, turning heads with her vivacious flair. She became an epic cat foster parent when her cares turned toward homemaking for her children. It was along these lines that her strong personality and penchant for helping her family and others exhibited itself in the most flattering way possible.
Survivors include her children; Wanika Lopez & Marcelino Lopez both of Valparaiso, Indiana, sisters; Monica (Julian) Solis of Illinois & Marcella (Sydney) Rucker of Chicago, sister-in-law, Cindy Lopez, and grandchildren: Yalina, Leland & Noah. She was preceded in death by her fiancé, Billy Herman, brother, Harry Lopez and her parents.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a private family celebration of Muriel’s life will be held.
