Ray Lee Snyder, 76 of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024. He was born July 6, 1948, in Gary, IN. Ray attended Hammond High School and Purdue North Central. He made his career with the Indiana Department of Transportation for 20 years, and joyfully looked forward to the days he was able to plow snow. Ray was currently working as a bus driver for the V-Line in Valparaiso, and enjoyed the company of the riders. When he wasn’t working, Ray enjoyed fishing with his son-in-law, and working on cars and trucks. Ray will be remembered as someone who was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
On November 16, 1968, Ray married Maxine Mandernach, who survives, along with their daughter, Leesa (Chris) Wuchner of Valparaiso; sister, Janice Kimbrel; sister-in-law, Susan (Joseph) Kimerer; brother-in-law, Bob Spencer; dear friend, Bryant “Bird” Mitol; special mention: Missy “DaNiece”, Bobbie, and Joey; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret (Duca) Buckley; and stepfather, Robert Snyder.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso. A celebration of Ray’s life will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to New Hope Church of God, 712 N. 450 W. Valparaiso, IN 46385.
