Kathleen “Kathy” E. Lines, 86 of Valparaiso, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024. She was born on July 21, 1938 in Bacso-Bodrog Hungary to John and Ethel (Magyar) Imre. She made her career as a nurse’s aide at Porter Memorial Hospital in wellborn and oncology for 30 years before retiring in 2000 and worked in housekeeping at Valparaiso Care and Rehab Center for 15 years. Kathy kept close to her roots, continuing to partake in the Hungarian culture, enjoying many delicious dishes! Dancing and music were close to her heart as she was fond of the polka and listening to Elvis. Her other hobbies include watching Saints football and fishing, especially each mother’s day with her children. Kathy’s bright smile, immense strength, and love for those around her will continue to live on in those she loved.
On November 15, 1958 in Gary, IN, Kathleen married Robert “Bob” Lines, who preceded her in death in 2000 for 42 years. Survivors include their children, Barbara Ransom and Donald “Rob” (Joel Andrade) Lines; brother, Andrew (Velvet) Imre; and granddaughter, Kathleen (Andy “Josh”) Ransom-Cuson. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joseph Imre; and son-in-law, David Ransom.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Moeller Funeral Home from 10:00 – noon, with a service beginning at noon. Interment of ashes to take place at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
