Raymond “Ray” James Cloyd, 73 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025. He was born on September 23, 1951 in Gary, IN, to the late James and Jennie (Poperti) Cloyd, attended Hobart schools, and graduated from Valparaiso High School. Ray made his career as a coiler for Bethlehem Steel/ISG/ArcelorMittal for 45 years before retiring. He enjoyed traveling all across the expanse of the United States, watching the New York Yankees, and spending time with his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy (Santay); his son, Raymond Cloyd; step-children: Kelly (Micah) Dolatowski, Kara (John) James, and James Casey; grandchildren: Abby, Connor, Jessie, Isaiah, Amori, Hunter, and Jackson; sister, Nancy (David) Towbridge; brothers, Tom (Milly) Cloyd and James Cloyd; brother’s-in-law: David (Maribeth) Santay, Dennis (Kim) Santay, and Don Santay; and father-in-law, Robert Santay. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Avery Cloyd; and mother-in-law, Elizabeth Santay.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, IN. Interment of ashes to take place at Angelcrest Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
