Charles L. Worden, 82, of Valparaiso passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025. He was born November 3, 1942, in Valparaiso to David E. & Wilma M. (nee Beach) Worden, graduated from Valparaiso High School 1960 and received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Indiana University in 1965. Chuck had co-owned The Oxford Shop from 1965 -1970, then owned Wiggins Real Estate from 1970 - 1985, before concluding his career with Centier Bank as Business Development and Community Relations Officer (in charge of charitable contributions, senior club activities, coordinator of Centier employee volunteers in community projects, public relations events, and business development for existing and new businesses). Chuck headed nearly every organization he was ever involved with: Valparaiso Jaycees, Board of Realtors, Rotary, YMCA Board, Chamber of Commerce, First United Methodist Church, United Way, Valparaiso University/Community fund drive, CROPWALK. He served as a Valparaiso City Councilman from 1976 – 1984, served on the Boards of CCA homeless shelter, Christmas in April, YMCA Advisory Board, Porter-Starke Employment council, and served as an Elder at First Christian Church. As nice as it may have been to hold these positions of importance, Chuck never forgot how important it was to be nice.
On March 20, 1965, at Valparaiso FUMC he married Marian R. Pulver who survives along with their daughters: Patricia (John) Admire of Fort Wayne & Carole (Charles) Van Senus of Valparaiso, brother, Thomas (Tasha) Worden of Alabama, and grandchildren: Heather (Dusty) Rymer, Alex (Sara) Van Senus, Craig (Liz) Admire & Rebecca Admire, and great-grandchildren: Eva & Parker.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 17th from 11 am – 12 noon at First Christian Church, 1507 Glendale Blvd., Valparaiso with funeral service beginning at 12:00 noon, Rev Tim Trussell-Smith officiating and burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Valparaiso Family YMCA.

So sorry to hear this sad news. I knew Chuck through his ongoing involvement at the Valpo Chamber — which is also next door to Centier Bank. He stopped in often and also served on many committees and the board. He was a kind and friendly man. -Danielle Oeding
