Gerald Ray Nuss, 68 of Kouts, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025. He was born March 26, 1956, in Valparaiso to the late Orval and Eileen (Lippert) Nuss. Jerry attended Kouts High School and made his career with US Steel for over 23 years. He was a member of the American Legion, and loved riding motorcycles, going to the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, and traveling with his wife, Paula. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids. He was fondly referred to as “Fuzz Nuss” around Kouts. Jerry will be remembered for his good sense of humor, generous and caring nature, stubborn personality, and honest opinions. He will be dearly missed.
On June 30, 1984, in Kouts, he married Paula Jean Lansdowne, who preceded him in death in 2018. He is survived by their children: Jennifer (Dave) Hayes of Valparaiso, Jennifer L. (Del) Pittman of Valparaiso, and Jamie (Josh Hamann) Brooker of Grant Park, IL; grandchildren: Ashley, Allison, Amber, Cody, Carley, Kyle, Chase, Zane, Madison, and Isabell; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Jean (Rich) Gingerich, and Scott (Pam) Nuss. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Elon Nuss.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kosanke Funeral Home, 309 S. Main St., Kouts. The funeral service will begin on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Kouts. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
