Jimmy Alvey “A.K.” Cable, 72, of Wanatah passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, after courageously battling lung cancer while holding the hand of his beloved wife. He was born on September 29, 1952, in Owensboro, KY to Helen (nee Hillard) & John Cable and raised alongside his 10 siblings in Portage, IN.
On May 14, 1982, he married Sharon Altgilbers who survives along with children: Debra & Richard Hall of LaPorte, Jason & Amber Cable of Wanatah, Jimmy Cable, Jr. of Collinsville, IL, and Jessica Cable of Terre Haute, IN, grandchildren: Megan Hall, Noah Livengood, Austin Livengood, Chloe Livengood, Serena Cable, Justin Cable, Stacie Lowe, Dalilah Cable & Abram Cable, great-granddaughter, Axyria Lowe, brothers: Glen (Patty) Cable, Dan (Mary) Cable, Randy (Vickie) Cable, sisters: Carol (Lauren) Cable, Mary Smith& Grace Cable, and many more loving family& friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Helen Cable, brothers: Darryl Cable, Butch Cable, and Terry Cable.
After serving in the Army, Jimmy dedicated many years to working with the Teamsters Union, where he formed lasting friendships. Outside of work, he was passionate about motorcycles, often finding freedom on the open road. He also had a special place in his heart for his white Corvette, which he cherished and took great pride in. Jimmy’s love for adventure and his zest for life were evident to all who knew him.
Jimmy’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a dedicated father of his four children, watching them grow and flourish. As a grandfather to nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild Jimmy’s heart was full of love for each of them. Jimmy cherished every moment he spent creating memories with all of his family and friends. His memory will live on through the stories we share and the memories we hold close to our hearts.
A visitation will be held Saturday, February 15th from 1 – 3 pm at Wanatah Funeral Chapel, 309 N. Main St., with funeral service beginning at 3:00 pm and cremation to follow.
