It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alan “Al” Huffman, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on February 8th, 2025. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 7th, 1952, Alan lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep devotion to his family. Above all else, Alan was a devoted father to his 3 children, and a proud grandfather to his 6 beautiful grandchildren. His love for his family was immeasurable, and he cherished every moment spent with them, offering love, support, and affection that will be deeply missed.

A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, Alan could often be found watching games, cheering for his team with unwavering loyalty, and sharing his passion for his beloved Cubbies, with those around him. Music and literature were other great joys in his life. Whether strumming his guitar, listening to his favorite tunes, or finding a new author or history book to enjoy, he found joy in the rhythm of life, often sharing his knowledge of both with those who were lucky enough to know him. Alan retired after 22 years of dedicated service at ComEd-Exelon, where he worked as a Quality Assurance Engineer. His professionalism, dedication, and hard work earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Alan was preceded in death by his father, whom we know he is at peace with now. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and a love for life & family that will never be forgotten. He is survived by his 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 2 younger brothers, and his loving mother, who will continue to honor his memory.

A celebration of his life with family and friends will be held on a future date and will later be announced. Rest in peace, to our sweet Dad & Grampy. You will forever be missed, loved, and close to our hearts.

GUESTBOOK

We are so sad for you all. Uncle Al was a great guy and I loved the times spent with him. Learning about music, visiting cool out of the ordinary places, and always having fun! He truly was so very proud of you all and definitely made a point to stay active in all your lives. As heartbreaking this is to hear, we're so glad you all were blessed to have him for the time you did. -The Szaniszlo's

We are deeply saddened and sorry for your loss! We hope that during such a difficult time, you remember the good times! The sound of his laughter, the cheers from the bleachers for your kiddos, the chipper smile, the vacations you shared and the many other happy memories you have! I didn’t know him long, but he showed a deep love for his family and watching his grandkids play basketball! I hope that you always remember the love he had for you guys and your families and the contagious kindness that he portrayed. -Tara Nimtz

So sorry to hear of Al's passing. He was my husband's best man 50 years, and in our younger years we had so much fun together. I know he will be missed by his children, grandchildren, siblings, mother, and friends. Try not to play your music too loud up there Al! We love you! -Terry and Debbie Brozowski

My memories of your Dad are many. My favorite memories include his humorous nature, his friendly demeanor and most of all the love of his children. He spent so much time with you all (and my kids too) in his lap, in the yard or in the pool, making you all laugh. I know you will miss him dearly. I know he will be watching over you all. -Halina Degnan

I have fond memories of Alan growing up. He was my cousin (his sweet mother Della is my dad’s sister) and as kids the family gatherings at Grandma’s house in Missouri were always adventurous. We connected on Facebook several years ago and I enjoyed his posts about his family. He was a great guy and we enjoyed our Cub-Cardinals rivalry through the years. My condolences to the family, he sure loved you all a lot. See you later Alan. -Karen Green

Chad, Tricia and family, so very sorry about the loss of your dad. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. -Carol Bertolo-Gamill

My family! Al you were a good man and a great father and grampy. Lots of memories from earlier years, mostly music and your love of sports (cubbies)! See you when it's our turn, so much love in our hearts for you and the family. God bless you. Rest in peace brother-in-law. -Lori Degnan

My heart is breaking for my Children & Grandchildren ....While married to Al he was always just the very best Dad, and Grampy there was. Always making sure the kids had "fun"...and they did certainly have fun! Al was great guy, hard worker, loved his music, books and most of all family. It was a life well lived. Too short, but well lived for sure. Loved by family & friends, and will be missed. Rest well Al..you deserve it. -Lin Price
