Sharron L. Simon, 84 of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025 with her daughters by her side. Sharron was born June 30, 1940 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Irvin LeRoy Kindig and Mary (Good) Kindig. Sharron made her career as a nurse working and changing many Emergency Departments in the area. She was a strong dedicated nursing leader who worked at making a real difference.
On September 20, 1958 in South Bend, Indiana she married Sheldon Simon. She is survived by her daughters, Renee (Daniel) Ives of Valparaiso, Tracy (Kevin) O’Laughlin of Sawyer, MI and son (in law) Jeff Mullen of Portage. Five Grandchildren, Andy (Amber) Mullen, Adam (Allyssa) Mullen, Whitney (Adam) Miller, Ryan (Kayla) O’Laughlin, and Conor (Leah) O’Laughlin. Five Great Grandchildren, Mia, Audrey, Raylen, Scarlett, and Autumn. She also has two sisters surviving: Sandra (Archie) Burkhalter of Sacramento CA and Salena (Terry) Nichols of Woodland Park, CO. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her sister Shirley Rosander, and her daughter Rhonda Mullen.
The family wishes to thank Dunes Hospice for their care and Pines Village for creating her home environment and allowing her to flourish and live a celebrated life the past 10 years.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM. A private burial will take place at Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pines Village Good Samaritan Fund.
