Edwin D. Hills, 69, of Valparaiso, born August 29, 1955, in Presque Isle, Maine to Eldon (late) and Betty Hills, passed away February 18, 2025, after a brief illness. Ed graduated from Morton High School in 1974 and began his welding career at Pullman Standard, Blaw Knox, and retired from Arcelor-Mittal Indiana Harbor Works in 2015.  He loved Lake Michigan where he spent countless sunny days on his boat with his family fishing, swimming and tubing. He was a master fixer for his friends and family with cars, boats, and home repair, and didn’t hesitate with his offers to help. He greatly valued his longtime friend, Frank Ponziano, who has been of tremendous support to his family. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth, and their children: Eric (Angela) and Matthew (Emily) Hills, and his mother Betty; Ed was a proud grandpa to his “girls” Eloise and Edith Hills.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a celebration of life service beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Porter County Humane Society.
