Richard (Dick) L. Doms, 92, of Hanna, IN passed away peacefully at home with family on Thursday, April 3, 2025. He was born May 6, 1932, in Willvale, Indiana to Herbert and Stella (Peeler) Doms. He graduated from Hanna High School in 1950 and served proudly with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Dick made his career for over 50 years with the Operating Engineers Local #150. He enjoyed watching football and basketball, especially games his grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in.  Dick served as a member of the Hanna Lions Club for many years, was on a bowling team with friends from the local area, and could be found on the dance floor anytime a polka was played. Getting outdoors and working in his pole barn brought him a special pleasure. And, if you knew him well enough to call him “Shorty”, you know that he was a gentle spirit, kind to everyone, and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Dick was married to Sharon Spindler for 69 years.  He is survived by his wife Sharon, along with their children: Jennifer (Doug) Sharp of Lincolnton, NC, Jeff (Janet) Doms of Hanna, Joel (Donna) Doms of Hanna, Jill (Steve) Scheckel of Tucson, AZ, and grandchildren: Tony Doms, Nick Doms, Jessica Leazenby, Derek Doms, Jordan Doms, and Marlee Doms, as well as 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Theiss, sister, Betty (Doms) Stultz and brother, Glen (Inez) Doms.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 9th from 9 – 11 am at Hanna Methodist Church with funeral service beginning at 11:00 am.  Rev. Randy Schrock is officiating, with burial to follow at Hanna Cemetery.
