Ruth Fay Kropp, 91, of Valparaiso passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025. She was born August 20, 1933, in Bethlehem, PA to the Reverend Walter and Iola (Benninger) Williams. Ruth graduated from Allentown High School and received a B.S. in Physical Education from West Chester University. Ruth began her career teaching in Pennsylvania before moving to Valparaiso in 1964. As her children got older, Ruth began substitute teaching in the Valparaiso school system for several years. She was a 60-year member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Valparaiso and a member of P.E.O. Chapter CO. Family getaways to Hilton Head, South Carolina and boating on Lake Michigan provided hours of enjoyment and years of wonderful memories. Ruth relocated to Greenwood, IN to be closer to family in 2020.
On May 28, 1955, in Allentown, PA she married Paul E. Kropp, Sr. who preceded her in death in 2011. Survivors include their children: Paul E. (Glenna) Kropp, Jr. of Carmel, Susan (Bill) Fohey of Indianapolis and Sandra (Eric) Villiger of New Palestine. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Schlegel and a sister, Kay Birmingham.
A time of gathering will be held Thursday, April 10th from 12 noon – 1 pm at Angelcrest Cemetery Chapel, 180 E. 600 N., Valparaiso with a memorial service and committal beginning at 1:00 pm CDT. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Valparaiso.
