Hilda Luz (Rodriguez Roman) Lleras, 83 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. She was born on December 16, 1941, in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico to the late Ramon Rodriguez and Andrea (Nieves) Roman. Hilda worked as a Deli Manager and Sales Associate at K-Mart in Franklin Park, IL for 15 years, in addition to being a seamstress for many years in the Chicagoland area. If you asked Hilda, she may say that her favorite job was pumping gas in Humboldt Park, where she met her husband. Outside of work, Hilda loved music and dancing, especially salsa and merengue. She also enjoyed going on walks, being outdoors, spending time with her family, and attending Christ Lutheran Church. Hilda had a vibrant, outgoing personality, and a fun sense of humor. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
On December 28, 1970, in Chicago, IL, Hilda married Guillermo Lleras Ruiz, who preceded her in death in 2023. She is survived by children: Daisy (James) Farley of Des Plaines, IL, Lillian De Jesus of Valparaiso, IN, Guillermo (Nora) Lleras of Eagen, MN, Oscar (Nadia) Lleras of Carpentersville, IL, and Brenda Lleras of Caguas, Puerto Rico; grandchildren: Amelie, Ozilyn, Noah, Mel, Eric, Lucas, Lindsay, and Glorimar. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Alex; her grandson, Ricardo; and 6 siblings.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 2610 N. Campbell St., Valparaiso, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m.
